Sensex surges 250 points;Nifty above 10,850 levels

Indian equity indices ended on a higher note crossing 35,000 mark, while Nifty was above 10,800 levels.

Sensex was higher by 251 points at 35,511, While Nifty surged by 77 points at 10,894.

The S&P BSE Mid-cap and small cap index was higher.

The government reduced the additional borrowing requirement for the current fiscal to INR 20,000 crore from INR 50,000 crore estimated earlier.

Shares of HDFC Bank Ltd ended up by 1% at Rs.1951. The total income for the quarter ended 31st December, 2017 was INR 24,450.4 crore , up from INR 20,748.3 crore for the quarter ended 31st December, 2016.
