With an objective to reinforce the mindfulness about energy conservation and to take a pause and think towards environmental concerns, the Oil & Gas Conservation Month – Saksham-2018 got underway at ONGC Mumbai on January 16, 2018. The month long activities planned for generating awareness include mass rallies within ONGC residential colonies, essay writing, painting and debate competitions, quizzes for all ONGCians and their family members and students of various schools, spread across the city, etc.
S K Moitra exhorting everyone to contribute towards Oil & Gas Conservation
Emphasizing on the need for judicious consumption of energy, ED-Asset Manager-Bassein & Satellite Asset & Director (Onshore) designate, S K Moitra, in his address, shared the contradiction of Oil men asking to conserve oil. He asked the gathering to note that the effort required to increase the production by a hundred barrels from a well is such a difficult task and one should bear it in mind whilst consuming petroleum products.
Under the present scenario, in line with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s clarion call for 10% hydrocarbon import reduction by 2022, it is not only important to enhance exploration and exploitation of oil & gas, it is equally important to conserve and use these precious commodities judiciously and efficiently. “Each one of us ought to take the lead and make individual efforts towards energy conservation”, he remarked.

ED-Asset Manager, Neelam & Heera Asset enjoined upon all employees to take part in Saksham (Oil & Gas Conservation Month) through its mass awareness campaigns to help in spreading the message of oil & gas conservation among the people around us and contribute towards energy security of our country. “We all have to shoulder the responsibility to conserve energy for our future generations by being responsible citizens answerable to all stakeholders”, he added.
Additional Director, PCRA (Western Region), Shashank Herlekar profusely complimented ONGC for its proactive approach, sincere efforts and tremendous achievements towards conservation of energy.
Energy is the lifeline of modern society and its conservation is instinct of life. Energy sector holds the key in accelerating the economic growth of a country. Being energy efficient through the use of new technologies and implementation of efficient processes is the way forward, he added.He exhorted everyone to act as a catalyst in bringing about the change by implementing and spreading awareness about this extremely important cause.
