ideaForge Technology Pvt. Ltd, a highly innovative Indian technology leader that manufactures advanced indigenous Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), has announced that it has been awarded a contract to supply two UAVs along with high-end photogrammetric sensors, Thermal Imaging Sensor and LiDAR Sensor to NTPC Ltd. (A Government of India Enterprise).
NTPC had launched a public tender in October 2016, seeking proposals for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for their R&D establishment NTPC Energy Technology Research Alliance (NETRA). Despite tough competition, ideaForge emerged successful through the International competitive bidding route, and will be supplying two highly sophisticated unmanned aerial systems.
NETRA, intends to conduct R&D study to explore various applications of UAVs in power
sector and related challenges to build the knowledge base and further development of user-friendly applications with data analytics. It is proposed, to use UAVs in degradation study of Solar PV plants, LiDAR based terrain mapping, photogrammetric volumetric analysis of coal stock piles in addition to visual inspection and monitoring activities at NTPC sites. So that, this technology can be widely used in NTPC for time efficient and cost effective inspection and monitoring activities.
“It gives us great pride in securing an order from a Maha Ratna public sector enterprise. We hope to further strengthen our leadership position in the Indian UAV market. We are equally hopeful of early resolution of the regulatory matters related to operation of UAVs in the Indian airspace” quoted Mr. Shrikant Thakker of ideaForge.
