Premium fans segment is expected to grow at 20% by 2020

Atomberg Technologies, a smart and efficient motor based company in the business of manufacturing energy efficient Gorilla fans, today announced that they are eyeing 10% market share in the premium fans segment in India by 2019. With 50% online sales coming in from both metro and non-metro cities, Atomberg is looking at aggressively expanding operations in the country. The company already has a fully integrated manufacturing facility at Navi Mumbai with a capacity of 50000 fans/month. To cater to the increased demand coming in from the city and hike up production numbers, they are looking at starting another facility in the near future. Currently having offline retail operations in Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi NCR, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chennai and Pune; Atomberg caters to all towns and cities pan India through the online channel. By 2019-20, Atomberg is looking at a 50-50 breakup in terms of sales each from offline and online channels, which will mean significant growth in both offline and online from the current numbers.

The concept of smart homes just like smart cities is slowing gaining a lot of ground in India. The increase in demand for digital homes is slowly moving from smart security features into newer areas like lighting, gas leakage detectors, smoke alarm systems, entertainment systems and energy efficiency systems. A key feature of these smart homes, besides providing convenience, comfort and ease, is their focus on energy efficiency and reducing any wastage. This is where Atomberg fans come into play, the BLDC technology used by them help in saving upto 65% electricity by consuming 28W power in full speed. A household in India can easily save upto 1500-2000 INR per year/fan using these fans. The other features like remote control with timer/sleep mode makes it a perfect addition to any smart home.

With the growing penetration of e-commerce and increased focus of e-commerce companies on consumer durables and appliances, a lot of decision making and purchase for consumer durables is happening online for a lot of consumers. This is true across metros and tier 2-3 cities. In fact more than 50% of Atomberg’s online sales come from tier 2 and 3 cities. Having said that, however, across India, offline sales of consumer durables is still the primary mode of purchase. Therefore, Atomberg has already started the process of establishing an offline distribution network in all cities to cater to a wider audience. In 2019-20, the major focus in offline will be to consolidate the presence in the top 8 cities before venturing into offline retail in other tier 2 and 3 cities.
