In a bid to attract millions of new customers in India’s small towns and rural areas, Confirmtkt, the Bangalore-based online train ticket discovery and booking engine, recently announced the launch of a Hindi version of its mobile app. With about 100k downloads in just 30 days, the Confirmtkt Hindi app is available for both Android and iOS users(currently available for Android users). With the addition of Hindi language support, the platform has witnessed a significant rise of 4.5 % in both engagement and retention levels already, a figure which is likely to go up manifold in the coming months.
According to a joint report conducted by Google-KPMG in 2017, the Hindi internet users (at 201 million) will outnumber the English internet users by 2021. The report further suggests that Hindi users will account for 38% of India’s total internet user base. Going by the numbers, Confirmtkt’s move to launch a Hindi app will help many customers who prefer Hindi over English, enabling them to easily book train and bus tickets without any hassle.
Speaking on the launch of the Hindi app, Dinesh Kumar Kotha, Co founder & CEO, Confirmtkt, said, “In tier-II and tier-III cities, trains are the most preferred mode of transportation for daily commuters as well as inter-city travellers. Since the majority of them are more comfortable in Hindi, we wanted to address the market gap that currently exists by launching a platform where they can book train tickets in their native language. As we intend to cater to a larger customer base in the coming year, we look forward to introducing more Indic language options soon. Our idea is to let people enjoy a seamless booking experience and have access to alternate travel options, irrespective of the language they speak”.
Since its launch in 2015, the Confirmtkt Hindi app has already been installed 344,640 times so far. With an aim to capture a wider audience in the country, the company also plans to add support for 8 more languages including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada and Oriya to its platform by 2019.
Confirmtkt, Bangalore based online train ticket discovery and booking engine delivers a seamless search and booking experience to travellers. Catering primarily to budget travellers using smartphones, the platform has a one-of-its-kind feature of predicting the status on waitlisted tickets and suggesting alternate travel options to them in case of unavailability of direct connecting trains.
