We are eyeing a revenue of INR 1000 crore in next 4 years: Rajeev Kapur, Steelbird Helmets

Steelbird Group, Asia’s largest helmet manufacturer, has 7 state of the art manufacturing plants with a daily production capacity of 21000.The group has diversified interests across Helmet manufacturing, Retail, Automobile parts, Entertainment, Music channel, online shopping portal and motoring sports. With over 5 decades of industry presence, the company has 5 R&D facilities in Italy supported by more than 3000 well trained staff.

Replying to Yash Ved of Newsbarons, Rajeev Kapur, MD, Steelbird Helmets informed “For expansion of our plants in Himachal Pradesh and setting up a new plant in Rajasthan, we are planning to invest INR 280 crore in the coming future.”

NB: Brief us about your expansion plans?

Rajeev Kapur: We are expanding our 3 plants in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh and are also planning to set up a new plant in Rajasthan that will be spread across 16 lacs square feet. The total investment would be around INR 280cr.

NB: What is your market share?

Rajeev Kapur: We have about 35% market share.

NB: Which of the countries do you export products?

Rajeev Kapur: We export helmets/engineering products to nearly 50 countries. We are focusing more on Indian market. About 10% of our revenue comes from exports.

NB: What is your future outlook?

Rajeev Kapur: With the latest installed capacity, machinery and new moulds and by launching new products and brands across segments, the annual revenue will double up to 500 Crores by 2019. We will also be expanding helmets portfolio over the next 6 months.

NB: What are your diversification plans?

Rajeev Kapur: We have ventured into new businesses such as the e-commerce site and high-end branded riding gear business to tap into the global market for biker’s suits, gloves, jackets etc.

We have also launched a high end bike accessories retail store that has the biggest brands from the world and it boosts of a café, a brewery, global bike accessory point, servicing and high end bike rental services.

We have also entered into Automobile OEM accessory market i.e. seat covers, handle grips and safety guards, riding gears etc.

Rajeev Kapur: We are eyeing a gross revenue of INR 1000 crore in the next 4 years.

Rajeev Kapur: Our vision is to devise innovative technology and futuristic design for manufacturing Helmets, Pannier Boxes, Visors and Accessories and riding gears.
